TORONTO, July 11, 2005 - The Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance (GTMA) is pleased to announce its new 19-member Board of Directors, elected at its 7th Annual General Meeting held on June 22nd in Oakville, Ontario. The GTMA is a public-private sector partnership representing all 29 regions and municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and a broad cross section of private sector companies. The GTMA is the key point of contact for prospective international investors looking to locate or expand their business in the GTA. The board appointees reflect the GTMA’s partnership approach, bringing together individuals with recognized expertise and leadership in business, academia and government.
The Board also elected David Gavsie, a Senior Partner at Ogilvy Renault LLP, as its new Chair. David is well known and respected in the business community, and is the immediate Past Chair of both the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Board of the ICD Corporate Governance College. Victor Hum, a Partner with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, and Chair of the GTMA’s Nominating & Governance Committee was elected as Vice-Chair.

The GTMA’s reputation and value to the international investors investment community is amongst the organization’s greatest attributes, and we plan to build on this.
The GTMA’s AGM was followed by a luncheon co-hosted by the Region of Halton and the communities of Oakville, Burlington, Halton Hills and Milton. Over 150 guests attended the luncheon to hear guest speaker, Jonathon Fischer, President & CEO, Mold-Masters Limited, a global company headquartered in Halton Hills and the world’s leading supplier of hot runner technology and systems used in the plastics industry. The release of the GTMA’s 2004-2005 Annual Review themed, One Strong Message for the World, highlights the organization’s accomplishments over the past year, including its recent exploratory mission to India.
Commenting on the organization and board priorities for the coming year, Mr. Gavsie added, The Board is committed to expanding the profile of the GTMA to a broader audience and adding to our growing list of private sector partners.
